NHC Components manufactures roof and floor trusses and structural columns for builders, contractors, and lumberyards. We’re around 50-60 people, family-owned, and we move fast.

This role starts as inside sales — learning the product, the customers, and the process — with a path to outside sales when you’ve earned it.

What you’ll do

• Be the primary point of contact for assigned customers from inquiry through delivery
• Prepare quotes for standard jobs
• Coordinate communication between customers and our design team on questions, approvals, and revisions
• Submit approved orders to scheduling with complete details
• Track customer volume and follow up on bids
• Own customer service issues until they’re resolved
• Coordinate repair solutions when damage or breakage happens
• Communicate pricing, lead times, and policy updates to customers

As you move into outside sales

• Visit customers regularly and build relationships
• Pursue new accounts in the territory
• Perform field measurements
• Bring market intelligence back to the team

What we’re looking for

• Strong communicator on phone, email, and eventually in person
• Organized — can juggle multiple jobs without dropping details
• Stays calm under pressure
• Gives and takes direct feedback without flinching
• Comfortable on computers and learning new systems
• Willing to travel locally when the role grows into it

Helpful but not required

• Truss, lumber, or building materials experience
• Sales or customer-facing experience in a technical environment
• Ability to read construction drawings — teachable if you’re willing

Truss Designer — NHC Components | Chillicothe, OH

Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM–4:30 PM | In Person

POSITION SUMMARY

This job is for someone who enjoys turning blueprints into buildable products, works well with a team, and takes pride in getting the details right. As a Designer at NHC Components, you’ll work from architectural blueprints to design truss packages that meet engineering standards, fit the job, and move smoothly into production.

We’re open to both entry-level and experienced candidates. MiTek experience is preferred but not required — we’ll train the right person. What matters most is your background, your attention to detail, and how you work.

WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS

Designers are where every job starts. Good designs flow through production smoothly and hit delivery dates. Sloppy designs create problems in every department that follows. Done well, this role is the reason customers keep coming back.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design truss packages from architectural blueprints using MiTek
• Collaborate with customers and team members to understand project requirements
• Provide customer service by phone and email
• Ensure designs meet functionality and industry compliance standards
• Revise designs based on feedback while keeping projects on schedule
• Communicate clearly with sales, production, and customers throughout the process

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

• Background in construction, framing, production, or truss design — MiTek experience a plus, we’ll train
• Ability to read architectural blueprints
• Self-motivated with strong attention to detail

Full-time | Home Daily | Local Routes

NHC Components manufactures floor trusses, roof trusses, laminated columns, and post-frame building components. We’re a family-owned, growing company serving builders and contractors throughout the region.

Our drivers deliver directly to job sites, typically within a 100-mile radius. This isn’t just highway driving. You’ll navigate tight access points, changing jobsite conditions, and material placement while representing NHC professionally with our customers.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Assist with loading and verify orders before departure
• Inspect, secure, and protect loads for safe transport
• Deliver materials safely and on schedule
• Follow all DOT regulations, including oversized-load requirements
• Navigate difficult job sites and determine safe material placement
• Communicate clearly with customers about delivery needs and site conditions
• Use good judgment when site conditions or customer requests change
• Report mechanical or safety concerns promptly

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

• Valid CDL-A and clean driving record
• Working knowledge of DOT regulations and oversized loads
• Ability to maneuver large loads into tight job sites
• Flatbed and load securement experience preferred
• Sound judgment and confidence making safety decisions
• Clear, professional communication with customers
• Physical ability to assist with securement and jobsite tasks
